Vanessa T Cunningham – BC Marketplace

Vanessa T Cunningham

Third generation textile artist.

Each of my pieces is approached one at a time and my textiles describe a place, person or feeling through texture. Each of my wraps is signed with vintage scrabble tiles and has a ‘little sister’ Everyday Scarf.†I use all my thrums in machine embroidered scarves and hand-spun yarn.

I am greatly inspired by my cultural background and where I grew up as a child. My Dutch Oma left me the Glmakra Loom that I use and I spent my childhood watching her and my Maman on the same loom growing up in Central Alaska. BC is new inspiration.

I love going outside rain, snow or shine to crawl around on our many hillsides, in our forests and fishing in our beautiful rivers to gain perspective and inspiration through experience. Since moving onto our sailboat on Vancouver Island I have found much inspiration in the shorelines and trees.

My small batch handspun yarn is also available. Please be aware that all skeins are individual and can vary through the batches.
